The Brickfields by Granny's Attic

A brickfield is a common name for a field that was previously dug up to extract clay for brickmaking. Many brickfields were replanted and are now home to an abundance of wildlife and plants. In some ways, this is a bit like the process of playing traditional music, with the unearthing of old tunes, and the creation of new music.

This album was recorded across 3 days in April 2021 at Simpson Street Studios, Northumberland. It is a diversion from our previous albums, in that it focuses entirely on instrumental music. We performed all the tunes live together in the studio, with no overdubs.

Granny’s Attic – Cohen Braithwaite-Kilcoyne (Melodeon, Concertina, Vocals), George Sansome (Guitar, Vocals) and Lewis Wood (Fiddle, Vocals) – play traditional music from the British Isles with verve, energy and their own inimitable style.
