No Preconceptions by Greg Allen & Graham Woolley

This album was recorded live in an apartment in Missoula, MT, sometime in the fall of 2007. It features two lengthy improvised duets between guitar and synth. The pieces featured here are about as different from each other as can be imagined:

The Great Insect War is compressed to hell and back, and features aggressive synth lines and tenebrous guitar sacrifice. The guitar was run through a signal chain that contained ring modulation, chorus, phase shifter, backward guitar effects, chorus, and a talkbox. The synth was programmed through Reason 4. Dogs were literally howling in the apartment next door due to the intensity and dissonance of this track.
Metaphorically, it expresses an epic tale of a vast war between an ant colony and a beehive. Who wins? Only the listener can know for sure.

Gossamer, on the other hand, is sweet and light, understated, pure, and simple, featuring soft arpeggiated pads on the synth and little-to-no effects on the guitar, as played through a Danelectro Honeytone mini-amp. It is a moment of melodic peace after a maelstrom of brutal pseudo-military conflict.

Note: Acoustic scientists agree that "The Great Insect War" is the loudest track that has ever been put to tape. So to speak.
