The Ifandbut by Guthrie Galileo

'If', 'and' & 'but' are three prepositions that imply a condition; more deeply they are symbols of self-limitation. They represent lingually human thoughts of hesitation–thoughts that stem most basically from a fear of failure. My upcoming album, "The Ifandbut" represents our universal effort to extinguish the influence of these words on the mind, and move forward from mental enslavement towards a greater possibility for personal liberation and success.

"The Ifandbut" makes each listener a character, a portrait of human emotion in it's basic form. Each song then becomes some familiar scenario, a situation the character may find ourselves in every day which challenges their inner strength in physical, mental and emotional ways. The character is then given an option: to respond to these challenges with 'if', 'and' or 'but' and succumb to the potential shortcomings of the human condition, or respond with a clear, resounding yes. Will you become a captive of your human condition or will you use it to better understand your unique place in each scenario and create your own fate?
