An extraordinary collaboration between New Orleans songstress YaDonna West and British Blues band Hard Stairs, that combines authentic Louisiana soul with gritty UK garage British Blues, to produce an EP of searing covers of classic 1950’s R&B tunes.

YaDonna West is a legendary New Orleans songstress who has enjoyed a long and successful music career, as a band member, solo artist and collaborator recording and touring with such luminaries as Neil Young, Willy Deville, Allan Toussaint and Bruce Willis and the Accelerators. YaDonna has spent decades dazzling audiences around the world with her classy and unique nightingale voice inspired by all the legendary singers of the great American song book such as Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Sarah Vaughn and Nat King Cole.

Hard Stairs are a 4 piece garage Blues band from Cheltenham in the UK and are renowned for creating gritty high energy Blues music that packs a punch. In June 2023 their acclaimed album of original songs titled ‘Bigger Blues’ received rave reviews and reached No.11 in the Independent Blues Broadcasters Association (IBBA) album charts. Influenced by the greats such as Buddy Guy, Junior Wells, JB Lenoir and Muddy Waters their contemporary sound honours the past while keeping an eye on the future.

This EP ‘Try Me; is a first time collaboration between YaDonna and Hard Stairs with the band recording their parts in Sound Shack Studios, Cheltenham and YaDonna and her pianist recording in Esplanade Studios Louisiana.
