Intimate Jamboree by Herb Leff

The pieces here embody an alternative way to listen to and think about music. All were recorded in close proximity to the instruments used (mostly small metal percussion tools ranging from specially selected water bottles and singing bowls to tongue drums, metallophones and various odd sources difficult to describe). Throughout, the music is intended to be heard as nearby, personal sonic mirages--or even as extended musical mantras--rather than as performances at a distance from the audience. Each track can thus serve as an enveloping intimate soundscape and a focus for contemplation or meditation. That's the way I intentionally experienced their production, and it is my hope for their reception.

Long a "utopian" psychologist with a passion for visual and sonic art, I now mainly create experimental music.
