Il aura fallu quatre ans à Eric Pasquereau pour lever le pied avec Papier Tigre et ré-activer The Patriotic Sunday, son projet folk intimiste qui avait marqué les esprits avec Lay Your Soul Bare. It has taken Eric Pasquereau four years to (temporarily) set Papier Tigre aside and re-activate The Patriotic Sunday, his intimate folk project best remembered for its impressive rookie effort Lay Your Soul Bare. Without a doubt it was worth the wait, as the new album, Characters, proves with its unexpected rock approach. Forget the acoustic guitar and make space for a selection of technical and polished compositions. The Patriotic Sunday is a dream team; Pasquereau is joined by Jonathan Seilman of The Melodramatic Sauna, and by his bandmates from Papier Tigre, Pierre-Antoine Parois and Arthur de la Grandière. The group takes a sensitive and sober approach to songwriting, utilising incisive rhythms and their intuitive understanding of melody.
