Hum

i remember this
i've seen it once before
floating all around me
hanging tangled in my memory
and i knew that this would happen
i knew the day would come
cuz when it stared me in the face and i felt my brain go numb...
i felt it penetrate...
it wouldn't go away...

and i don't know how it came to this
and i don't know how it is
and i don't know how it came to this in the first place

i have this feeling in my bones
i look around to see if someone's watching me from a few steps back
waiting for the right time to attack
superstition is paranoia
treading on the cracks etched in the pavement
and we look around communally... nothing for us to see, but we feel it penetrate...
does it go away? ... it doesn't go away

and i don't know how it came to this
