Superstate by Shipping
A long hard year got worse for me when my version of Ableton stopped working with my iOS and all my music projects were basically lost.
But I had exported some of the projects to wav so I've decided to release those here, as they'll never be anything other than what they are, which is actually pretty convenient given the otherwise difficult task of knowing when something is finished. In some ways my Mac has done me a favour.
Some of the these tracks go back to 2012 or so, whereas others are quite recent. Some I had intended to release as they are anyway, but had never got around to it. Some I had simply forgotten about. As an album not really conceived as an entire thing, the sounds on here move from vibe to different vibe. There's proper ambient stuff in here as well some beat-forward tunes. But it still represents what I've been interested in musically over the last little while.
Many hours have gone into these tracks... in some cases they represent things I spent night after night playing around with, generally because I enjoyed it, but also as a retreat from the world. Now that there's some time and distance between their inception and this album, it feels good to send them out there.
Wherever you may be I hope this collection gives you some enjoyment.
