VII by In The Absence of Words

For many, December is both a festive and sombre time of year.

Reflecting upon annual events, traditions, and anniversaries associated with December, Chapter VII was inspired by thoughts and feelings of people and places I thought would always be part of my life but which are now gone.

Musically, Chapter VII varies from previous chapters, which I put down to having just attended the Cold Meat Industry 30th Anniversary festival weeks before. The influence from that label is quite apparent.

I am a copywriter by day and humbled to work with words for a living. However, whether it’s a stark or dramatic landscape, the serenity and solitude of the forest, a connection with another human being, or the grief of losing one, sometimes it’s difficult to find the words.

IN THE ABSENCE OF WORDS is a project I’ve started as an outlet to express experiences and moods in other ways than words. The goal is to “chapters” on a monthly basis. With each chapter, the aim is to create a "story" based on a mood or feeling.

As a copywriter, I am humbled to work with words. However, whether it’s a dramatic landscape, the serenity and solitude of the forest, connection with another human being, or the grief of losing one, sometimes it’s impossible to find the words.
