For this album Hullick performs on The Resonance Table, a touch screen and computer based audio visual instrument created by CiART Labs, RMIT University and through the Duckworth Hullick Duo with Ross Eldridge. JOLT Arts also collaborated with CiART Labs to test and extend the capabilities of The Resonance Table instrument.
It is important to comprehend that The Resonance Table is - at the time of writing - a one-of-a-kind instrument, that is constantly in a process of evolution and development. The instrument functions in strategically contained ways, which therefore determines possible sound worlds that the performer can create. Interactivity and visual design are tightly melded on this instrument and exemplify the elegant artistry of Jonathan Duckworth.
On this Vivisection record, Hullick - as a soloist - explores transformations of prepared piano sounds that where generated from recordings made by Hullick playing his piano. The project has a feeling of pulling the piano apart and then examining it through some science fiction measuring tool: namely, The Resonance Table.
