late one evening, standing on the outer edge of a rainforest in central america, and staring into a blackness so thick it was as if a curtain had been drawn across the landscape. but then, the sounds.
the composition sonámbulo (2008) was motivated by this surreal experience of my eyes struggling to define my position in space, while all of my other senses crackled with a mix of numbing fear and sublime captivation for what was unfolding in front of me. i was nowhere familiar. yet, as my ears and mind focused, i began to hear further and through the forest - the insects, animals and flora were dissolving together with the sounds of distant machinery and traffic. it was unclear which was the imitation or original. like a sleepwalker, my mind waded through this ever-shifting set of new relationships.
