Dream Boat by Jan Lamberton Smith
Jan Smith’s latest release, dream boat, is a collection of 10 original songs recorded live in October of 2024 at Poco Farm in Ojai California with upright bassist Tristan Cole-Falek. The album weaves stories of down-to-earth characters and subjects with humor, simplicity and strands of magical realism.
The concert at Poco Farm was curated by Greater Goods Ojai, a 501 c3 educational non-profit dedicated to local art, craft, learning & togetherness.
This live album is the pre-curser of a studio recording project produced by Greater Goods Ojai, Jan Smith and Vaughn Montgomery. We are excited to bring together Cuyama Mama & The Hot Flashes, muddy daughters, and our broader community of musicians and artists to create a 3 album project of original music by Jan Smith. The working title for the first record is 'Betty Arlene'.

Jan Smith is an Americana singer-songwriter and musician based in the Cuyama Valley of Southern California. Smith fronts and is the main writer for the dance band Cuyama Mama & the Hot Flashes, and the original choir, muddy daughters. She is the co-creator of The Peddlers Theater, a two woman music/art theater project with artist/builder Betty Seaman.
