Embrace by Joel David Weir & The Gethsemani Band
A live performance is an invitation. Songs grow, stumble, throw tantrums, get an attitude, go feral in the alchemy of vibrations, air, circuits and breath of being played in a room for people. The band that played on "Gethsemani", Ric Hordinski (guitar) and Joshua Seurkamp (drums) joined David Sparks (bass) and I for a singular night of exploration and noise in the city where the album was born - Cincinnati. Brandon Pfeiffer described the recording as warm and inviting, the production is purposefully live but lush, with ambient architect Jason T. Lamoreaux adding his touch on the mixing and mastering. Grateful to all who were there. Grateful to MOTR and the city of Cincinnati, especially the Peoples Republic of Walnut Hills. Grateful to Ric, Josh and David for going on this ride with me. Grateful to Jason for facing and overcoming technical gremlins that night and capturing the show, and treating it with such love and sincerity. Thank God for music.
