Thin Places by Joel David Weir and The Balhinch Quarterly
The debut EP from the indie/americana project The Balhinch Quarterly, which features the songwriting of Joel David Weir. Thin Places is an Irish phrase that refers to a place where heaven and earth seem closer together. Joel began writing and remembering songs that touched specifically on these "Thin Places" in his experience as a native of central Indiana. His ancestors settled in an area they called "Balhinch" Indiana, which takes its name from Balhinch Ireland. Legend has it that the settlers put down their roots in Balhinch not because it was the best farmland, but because it was the most beautiful. To this day folks say the area is haunted by something. Its in this spirit, of exploring the places where heaven and earth, where grief and joy, where wanderlust and a sense of place meet, or sometimes collide that these songs were written and played. This record is a labor of love. It is friends playing music together. It is the fruit of much generosity from friends who believe in this music. Thanks and thanks to you for listening! Slainte!
