negative metaphysik by jo jena/imm
the centrepiece of this album is the track ‘negative metaphysik’. the electroacoustic piece for 9 electric guitars and 9 haken synthesizers is part of my musical exploration of the topic of biomimetics and the principle of non-identity. more infos can be found under "notizen zur musik", my substack channel.
some of the more avant-garde techniques – including freely improvised polychronous loops and extended techniques – are placed in the context of acoustic fusion in a three-part suite at the beginning of this recording.
at the end, there is a modal ambient piece.
all pieces were realised at a comparatively high pace: the structures, pitch sets and melodies were worked out in a short period of time, the overdubbed textures were recorded in continuous takes, of which the first take was usually used without changes and edits.
