3 by B So glObal

In the early 1990s, Ian Staples began thinking about recording some music for art installations and exhibition spaces, and he approached me to collaborate on the project.
Some of the pieces we wrote together were eventually released as the first, eponymously titled, B So glObal album. Though originally conceived as a studio project, B So glObal outgrew its origins to become a gigging band. We were subsequently signed by Chillum Records, who released the second B So glObal album ‘The World Is Covered In Windows’ in 1995. Although B So glObal were signed on a multi-album deal, Chillum folded in 1996. Work had already begun on a third album, and we recruited poet Rich Hamel and, later, former Comus chanteuse, Bobbie Watson, to the band as vocalists.
B so glObal 3 is effectively a musical diary of how the band developed in its last few years, and the album tracks are sequenced chronologically to reflect that development. The first two pieces are on familiar B So glO territory, and feature only Ian and myself, these are followed by two pieces from the period when Richard Hamel joined us, and finally by three pieces from the very last iteration of the band, where Richard was joined by Bobbie Watson as co-vocalist.

Jon is a current or former member of Comus, Current 93, Red Square & B So glObal and has toured and performed in Britain, Europe and the Far East.
He play variously soprano & tenor saxes, bass clarinet, flute, bass, keyboards, percussion and electronics.
Ian Staples is a former member of B So glObal and Red Square. He plays guitars, bass and electronics.
