ZZK Records Presents: Karen y Los Remedios - ‘Silencio Remixes’
Karen y Los Remedios, the Mexican band known for their unique blend of cumbia and downtempo music, brings an album of remixes. The group is fronted by Ana Karen Barajas, who is both a singer-songwriter, along with Jiony, a producer based in Mexico City, and guitarist Guillermo Berbeyer. Together, they create a distinctive sound that incorporates elements of cumbia, trip-hop, and subtle electronic details.
Their debut album, Silencio, was released on September 8, 2023. Now, they have collaborated with other artists for this remix album. For this remix release of ‘Silencio’, the debut album by Karen y Los Remedios, a group of artists from different nationalities and various musical genres came together:
From Honduras, we have multiple Grammy Award winner Trooko, who has collaborated with artists such as Bad Bunny, Bomba Estéreo, and Thalía. Dan Solo and Tonga Conga are two established Mexican musicians and producers who have distinguished themselves by working with a large number of artists, in addition to producing their own musical projects. Barzo and the duo Estación Subtrópico, representing Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic respectively, incorporate traditional and electronic elements into their productions, which have made them stand out in their countries of residence. Bernardo Pérez, under the alias Real Suabidad, brings to this compilation a very unique style that combines sound design and synthesizers, as seen in his projects like Bicho Blanco and The Guadaloops. To conclude this list of artists, two producers heavily involved with the sound of electronic cumbia, Orihuela M.S.S. from Puebla and El Keamo, who resides in California, contribute their own vision of the genre to this remix compilation.
