Kian Dye by Kian Dye
For his debut album, Kian composed, produced, recorded, and mixed all of the tracks. Recorded live over the course of three full days in the studio, the album features Joe Suskind and Brian Alley (Never Come Down), Forrest Marowitz (Eli West, AJ Lee and Blue Summit), Josiah Payne, and Forrest Gibson, who are all former bandmates, frequent collaborators, and friends that Kian has made over the years. With band members hailing from Portland, Seattle, and Bellingham, this album mirrors Kian’s musical and physical journey over the past decade.
With titles such as “Whatcom County Breakdown”, “Deception Pass”, and “Crossing the Sound”, this album is rooted firmly in the Pacific Northwest, where Kian has spent his whole life. Kian’s compositions blend together bluegrass, celtic, Newgrass and more to create a sound that is simultaneously wholly original and also familiar and rooted in tradition. Some of Kian’s many influences for this album include Bela Fleck, Tony Rice, Chris Thile, and Bill Monroe.
