Morningtime from Cicada by Kid Orchid

The album closer. I wanted it to be simple, a bit like a lullaby, and feature a duet between voice and cello.

It's partly inspired by my 3 year old daughter who immediately after waking every morning (without fail yet) yells at the top of her lungs: IT'S MORNINGTIME. Coincidentally, its also her favourite track and she's asked me to play it quite a bit.

The lyrics are a bit about how our earth is truly unique. Sometimes when I hear astronomers talk about how the chances are very high there are other planets with life like ours, it makes me feel a bit mislead.

I like to be reminded that It's not just unlikely that the ever-ongoing interactions of earth's evolution, ecology, geology, chemistry, atoms, molecules, animals, plants, invertebrates, microbes and particles can ever be found again in exactly the same combination, it's actually impossible.
