Big Wheel by Kieran Mahon

Big Wheel began life as an entirely drone based piece that was made late summer 2017. Despite being a deep and heavily layered project it had a minimalism similar to something that may have appeared on my 2014 LP Horizontal Lines.
I have been performing live a great deal more over the last 2 years and the drone project grew as the foundation of my set. You can hear it taking shape in the More News From Nowhere, Sonic Imperfections and Blacking Out With... recordings.
Eventually it evolved back into a studio project.
The simple idea was to create a deep listening environment utilising as few components as possible. So whilst the track goes beyond 20 minutes, it only has 5 elements blended into the original drone.

This may well suit headphones more than monitor speakers.
That said, I have enjoyed listening to this very loudly through a PA too.

Polypores has provided a wonderful remix - a dark, subterranean waltz.
