The Reminiscer from Back&Forth by King Fear

I’ve been thinking
Since this past December
I’ve found it hard to remember
A day with nothing for me to do
That kept going forever
Cause nowadays I’m trying to find ways
To prove that I’m clever
Trophies, EPs
Or academic endeavors
But why the hell do I bother
If being honest, I don’t know
For now, I vent doubts
In the form of lo-fi flow
Too many similar-sounding syllables condensed
I’m writing cryptic tongue twisters no one can follow

I guess I’m growing as a person
Or as an artist
Someone who’s being creative
Trying to find a new place
To admit all my disgraces
If you didn’t already notice
This entire release is
About how I behave
After romantic mistakes
‘bout the chances I wasted while trying to escape
The trap of chasing a fate
Reserved for those more attractive
But at least it might sound great

I want to be remembered
By my kids if they don’t exist then the rest of the world
Does that sound crazy?
Might be over my head
But I don’t give a damn
I’m trying to leave my little mark on the Earth

New day, new verse, no nonsense
Slow it down so I can actually get breaths in
Working well for me so far, man I like this
Only problem, I’m starting to sound generic
So I’m gonna make the words I say sentient
Three lines stand between me and the end of this
Verse, could’ve cut it short and saved myself some work
But that’s a coward’s turf to lurk

I guess I’m learning as a person
Not to be selfish
But rather generous, genuine
Generally good to others
So they treat me the same
Relearning everything I forgot
From my time in Pre-K
About how I behave
When things aren't going my way
Don't throw a tantrum, take time
To take a breath and say
Everything is okay
Still got the rest of the day
Don’t waste so much time playing games

Learning from all my mistakes I do that daily
Applying my knowledge been lacking on that lately
But I can promise to myself all the things 'ima do will be self-motivated
From now on I vow to be someone I want, not something that others created
Woah trying to sound motivational
Don’t forget to breathe when things are flowing well, though
Not getting enthralled in an ego
Wanna be real to all my people
If you’re like me, wanna see yourself grow

We want to be remembered
By our kids and then after that’s done the rest of the world
