HANOÏ VIETNAM is a compilation of various sounds and music of the capital of Vietnam.
The 4 first tracks are CA TRU, an ancient musical style of northern Vietnam, with a DAN DAI (long neck 3 stringed plucked instrument) and a female singer using a bamboo block hit by 2 wooden sticks, a 3rd person hits a drum as direction or appreciation, recorded in april 2009
1 Doi Can is the name of a Hanoi street where a temple is located in which various CA TRU singers and musicians were celebrating the birthday of an old musician and that was my introduction to Thi Chuc who is singing far away with a dan dai player and a drummer.
The following tracks were recorded at THI CHUC s home outside of Hanoi. She is 85 years old and started at the age of 12, she represents an old subtle and soft way of singing ancient chinese poetry in vietnamese language, the art of CA TRU, here with a 30 years old man VIDAN DAI player.
