It feels a bit counterintuitive to produce something from the song-a-day project that I and many others just finished up (only missed one day!!). Songadayforamonth is a special community that emphasizes music-making and listening as a life practice rather than a final product. But I’m putting this little album out into the world because I enjoy sharing my music :)

July was a long and weird month colored by the bad experience of watching a dog get hit on California's dreadful I-5 corridor. That was sorta hanging over me like a curse. But I got to spend the month collaborating with rockstar friends, I thought a lot about feral ecologies, I joined up with Ursula K Le Guin in trying (and probably failing) to decipher ant text, I wrote everything down by hand, I felt the curse lifting, I learned a bit about the complex and unusually communal behavior of acorn woodpeckers, fought off a cold and imagined the summer I haven't yet had.
