Samplextra by Lee Rosevere

"Samplextra" (pron. sam-PLEX-tra) is a new album project by Lee Rosevere, diving head first into beat and vocal-driven electronic tracks, inspired by house, pop, EDM, disco and early 90s acid house.

"Samplextra" features a different Atlantic Canadian vocalist on each track, all performed virtually. Handfuls of phrases and melodies were sampled from the catalog of the respective artists - but not just sampled - they were reshaped, morphed and recontextualized into new compositions by Rosevere, who wrote all the music and produced the album.

The vocalists taking part are a true stellar lineup of some of the best of Canadian and Atlantic-based artists including Nadia, Catherine MacLellan, Rachel Beck, Dayna Manning, Meaghan Blanchard, Kristen Martell, KINLEY, and Jenni Roberge of Jenni and the Hummingbird.

Lee Rosevere is best known for his instrumental ambient and electronic music, nominated for East Coast Music (ECMA) and multiple MusicPEI awards. He has remixed tracks by KINLEY, Kristen Martell, Rachel Beck and Matt Steele. "Samplextra" picks up where those remixes left off, going far beyond making a new version of an existing song, but creating something entirely new and unique.
