Awakening Death by LostDog & Maria Nikiforaki

Rituals For New Futures is an ongoing project initiated by multimedia artist Maria Nikiforaki. Featuring an imaginary, sci-fi-inspired female heroine, the project explores the essential elements—water, soil, fire, and air—and their potential as leading characters in the process of creating sustainable futures.

Following the opening chapter in Spain, Rituals For New Futures travelled to the Czech Republic. Chapter two, Awakening Death, took place on the night of April 30 which marks the day of Burning of the Witches. This ancient tradition sees people gathered around a bonfire in a ritual that represents the triumph of light over darkness as winter transforms into the season of spring. The heroine visited Prague’s MeetFactory with a scorching performance featuring a soundtrack composed by Lost Dog.
