Barada
بردى:

قالتلي ساميةُ فُراتي ذهبٌ هو بردى
عنقودٌ ذابَ على رأسنا هُنا على روحنا
أين هو ابحثي معي قُلت لها في عيونِنا
نحن من جف فينا ينبوع العودة لها

عائدونَ نَحْنُ عائدونْ
قالتلي لما تعودي
قبِّلي ليَّ بردى
قلتُ لها في وطني
إني أعودُ وَلَدا

Samia of Euphrate once told me
That Barada is a river of gold
A collar melted into one with our souls
Where is it?, I asked
In our eyes, she replied
Those eyes where the fountain of return,
henceforth, is dry.

We will be going back.
Upon my return, she asked of me
To give Barada a kiss from her.
I replied to her
That back in my home
I shall become a child again
