It started out just you and me
Close as anyone could be
Both grew up with rough families
Never thought one day you'd up and leave

That summer we sat at Herritage park
And talked and talked until it fell dark
We spoke of things we weren’t too fond
I thought we’d formed a close knit bond


I thought maybe I could rely on you
But all you’ve done’s enforced my trust issues
People only look out for their own wants and needs
Which is why it’s not surprising that everybody leaves.

Every week was a new adventure
Windows rolled down, wind in my hair
I trusted you, I gave it to you
I had no reason to be scared

I’ve always had a hard time letting people close
Especially at the times i need them the most
Everytime i just get let down
I’ve just started to avoid letting people come around

I thought maybe I could rely on you
But all you’ve done’s enforced my trust issues
People only look out for their own wants and needs
Which is why it’s not surprising that everybody leaves.
