Glass House by Makin' Out

Glass House is the first single from Makin' Out's forthcoming debut LP "Living in a Glass House" which is set to be released on Dead Broke Rekerds in the spring of 2025.

I began writing Glass House in the summer of 2023. It is a reflection on my history of substance abuse and the isolation that comes with quitting alcohol. I finished writing it after the untimely and violent death of my partner, August, later that summer. Already an integral part of my songwriting, grief, slightly shifted the intended direction of the song. It is a comment on the loss of control, agency, and privacy, one feels when faced with trauma of such magnitude, while simultaneously navigating the isolation it creates. It's the understanding that there is no rulebook, or guide showing us how to "correctly" grieve our loved ones, and or substances.
