For me, the “chamber” is a symbol representing different people encountering each other in a closed
room, both in reality and figuratively.
This room is somewhere that we can meet in the fullest sense of the word. I feel like I am protected
and trapped.
The room gives me security and closeness – it challenges me to protect myself and define
boundaries. It is infinitely wide and boundlessly large – it picks me up, and takes my breath away.
Over the past seven years I have resided in two “chambers” that have defined and filled my life, and
provided my fulfilment.
The first is my family, in which I would become the father, and here I experienced the growth of
this family and ultimately a separation.
The second is my trio with Jochen and Matthias. We are also a little family, that lives and feeds on
our encounters – in two senses here we make “chamber music”.
I find the often used comparison between a married couple and a music ensemble hits the nail right
on the head, because we become very close in a small space.
For me, music is a mirror of my life and perceptions. All these experiences are turned into abstract
metaphors in our compositions, musical images that support me and open my heart.
I wish you all likewise and hope that you are touched in the same way.
This album, “Kammer”, is the first of three parts. "Kammer II" will be released in November 2021.
