Cartoon Physics by Marc Gallagher

After nearly 2 years since his last release, Manchester-based ukulele songwriter Marc Gallagher will share his new release “Cartoon Physics” this October.

Born and raised in Nantwich, Cheshire, Marc shaped his musical development with local open mics and gigs, before moving to Manchester and subsequently taking his talents internationally to 11 countries on tours and ukulele festivals. With the COVID-19 pandemic and the stay-at-home orders that came with it, Marc moved from The Rainy City back home with his family and dogs and sought inspiration from life at home.

During the pandemic, Marc’s video content output skyrocketed with his frequent cover videos and collaborations. He duetted with highly-regarded ukulele players such as Victoria Vox, Abe Lagrimas Jr, Christopher Davis-Shannon and more in videos that have cumulatively earned tens of thousands of views.

After the expense and grandeur of a full-band full album in 2019’s “Songs From A Happy Winter”, “Cartoon Physics” represents intimate simplicity, with acoustic band arrangements all recorded from home in Nantwich, a first for the pop-folk artist.

The 7-track Large EP/Micro Album features material written during lockdown in the COVID-19 pandemic as well as songs penned before the preparation of ‘Happy Winter’. Themes include a love letter to Galway with tracks like “City Bells”, a love letter to a workplace crush in “Admire From Afar”, and a look at the pandemic and loneliness with “Locked Down My Whole Life”.
