INTERDEPENDENZEN by Maria Reich

Like the reflections of light on an uneven surface. A gesture of hands in space that catches a glimpse. Spider webs vibrating and tearing. Beauty of the dirty, the rough, the open. The frequency of a space, an object, a body, suddenly palpable. Mutual world relations, inconspicuous, imperceptible, that weave between all things.

„INTERDEPENDENZEN“ is a selection of 11 solo improvisations that evolved during Maria Reich’s solo impro research with the generous support of Deutscher Musikfonds. All pieces are uncut and were recorded in different places over the last 6 months on an iPhone.
The situation, the material becomes audible, the wood, the bow hair, the room, the recording device, the musician. „There is no part of me that is alone“…

„It’s all about the practice of being where I am. Listening to what is. Following the sound in a curious playful way, giving my pure attention to what evolves now. And now. Then I may experience what’s this richness, this fullness of every instant. Every new moment of presence is born with my capacity to witness its unfolding. Every new sound can be the most vivid, alive, fresh sound if I have the courage and the calmness to be with it.“

Maria Reich (*1990 in Berlin, Germany) picked up the violin at the age of 3. She is an established improvising violinist in the German and Berlin Jazz scene and beyond. Collaborations with Nick Dunston, Eve Risser, Laura Totenhagen, Julia Kadel, and many more.
