Die intergalaktische Alliteration "mars mushrooms" experimentiert sich seit 1998 durch das Reich der vielen gezupften, geblasenen und geschlagenen Töne. Die musikalischen Wurzeln der Band liegen in der amerikanischen Jambandszene bei Bands wie Grateful Dead, Phish und Disco Biscuits. Ins Deutsche übersetzt würde man mars mushrooms wohl dem Genre des Post-Krautrock zuordnen.
