We held each other in the kitchen
while the tiny human played at our feet
just before we sat down to eat

We said I love you’s with eyes wide open
feeling three hearts beating between our bellies
six hands feeling fascia move like warm jelly

I feel like I’m floating like a heavy ship
sailing at full speed through holy water
Everything is okay even when it’s shit
I am not afraid of pain because we’re living

I want this for us

I’ll take each moment as I may have it
and ask for nothing more
than our shared gaze
and this company while we remain in this place

while the tiny human blessed our meal with grace
