Fractal Harmonies by Mathmatrix
Mathmatrix, also known in the past as BLN and Brazda lui Novac, is the moniker of Victor Popescu, from Bucharest-Romania. The artist has been creating electronica/IDM music since 1997, although he didn't officially release any music until 2010. Over the years, he has made notable appearances on radio shows and TV in Romania, as well as alongside prestigious line-ups (Electronic Experimental Nights at Control Club) and in live event performances, like Waha Festival this summer 2023.
In 2010, the artist made his debut with a self-titled album called "Brazda lui Novac" on Square Sound Records. The next year, he released the album "Dizzy" under the alias “BLN” under Raumklang Music Records label. Followed in 2013, by a self-released called “Moldern”, which included remixes by various prestigious artists such as Plaid, Architect, and Roel Funcken. In 2018, still under BLN's alias and signed to the Touched Music label, he released "Reworked Rewired Vol 1." This was followed by "Multiverse" in 2019. However, in 2022, he changed the name of his project to "Mathmatrix" and released a new self-titled album.
Mathmatrix works appeared also in multiple various other releases, since the beginning of the label Touched Music (UK), Neo Ouija (UK) and most recently EC Underground (US), including exclusivity with the remix "Suave" from a forthcoming Heft project, and "Wet" from last year VA which gets musical flashbacks to Plaid and Autechre. The artist is widely recognized for his ability to seamlessly blend classic IDM sounds and arrangements in his work, incorporating edgier and more experimental elements such as grindy, glitchy, and brasher sounds. The special combination creates a thrilling and energetic element in this new release.
