Built Different by Maya Mayhem

"Built Different" is a very personal album that deals with an... interesting period of my life.
"Interesting" does not mean "good", mind you.

The album is concerned with documenting and processing a time of many changes.
I wrote and produced the songs in a timespan of 3 years, so about half of the album was written while i still identified as male. I wonder if you can guess which songs I wrote after I came out as trans? (hint: it's generally the better ones)

During this time in my life, I've also been finally diagnosed with ADHD and cPTSD, so the album is also about my lifelong struggle with both of these issues, the ton of comorbidities that come along with them and the insane amount of chronic physical ailments I struggle with as a result of my past deep in the swamps of addiction.

As might be obvious from this introductory text and the album artwork, this is not a happy piece of art.
It's me trying to find my voice and finally express myself.
The things I'm trying to express being a quarter-century of pain and suffering.
I feel like I've come much closer to truly expressing myself with this album, but also that I'm not quite there yet.
But I'll get there.

Generally speaking, the core message of this album is:
I'm not okay. And that's okay.
