That which is new, excites and it also scares. We live between the desire to go and embrace the new and conversely to find safe harbour from it. My second album Neophilia is my attempt to document a phase in my life, last year, when travelling through Europe for the first time, I was exposed to new ideas and emotions, perspectives and truths, friendships and collaborations. This is my attempt to create a medium to connect art and society, to open up a dialogue, become a cleaner mirror to life around.
Neophilia is an attempt to accept and embrace the discoveries those times brought me. It carries in its womb the fears and insecurities that newness brings. It is a reminder to me of my basic human instincts as I discover and see new dimensions of the world and my thoughts.
Neophilia is also a tribute to the amazing humans living in harmony with the chaos around – some lovers, most strangers and few enemies. These relationships in my journey of the last four years, have provoked me and also opened up my mind.
It has taught me the worthlessness of confining things into straitjackets. Hence I won’t categorize this album, or define it. Neophilia is what your take from it, what you make from it, most importantly - what you become from it.
