It was August 2014 when Akama asked four composers to send her new or existing scores for the solo performance album project, senu hima. A year of contemplating, communicating and nurturing ideas have created this final release.
‘senu hima’ is a traditional art concept derived from Noh culture in Japan in which where nothing is or where nothing is performed is explored as the most important passage. As if opposing to her anticipation, these scores requested her to perform sequences, numbers or certain rules. Within these instructions, Akama found a way to make a fine balance between where there is and where there is not.
