AAM 47.13.27 by Meso & Central American Sound Library Project

This unprovenienced "Buenos Aires-Úraba Polychrome" type globular flute (ocarina) features a bird of unidentified species (Tinamiformes order?). It has been housed at the Art & History Museum (AHM), Brussels, since 1947 and was manufactured in the Puntarenas Province, Buenos Aires Canton (Costa Rica), during the Chiriquí Phase (AD 800-1550). This aerophone was formerly part of the Germaine Wenziner private collection. Archaeological region & sub-region: Greater Chiriquí, Diquís.
