With the guitar somewhat creeping back into favour in "popular experimental music," we feel privileged to share more new incidences of six stringed singularity with you here.
Specifically, the augmented-reality-guitar stylings of Nickolas Mohanna, whose previous sound works came through Slow Flow Rec, Preservation, and Low Point; an NYC based artist (the third to appear on a Metaphysical Circuits tape... grounds for a label showcase live in the Big Apple?!), N.M. has, interestingly, yet to appear on a U.S. imprint.
As for the work at hand... my, what electroacoustic evocations! A pristine pair of two-in-ones, six strings singing in syncopation, tapped out and meditative, evolving into starkly beautiful drones... or fragile folk-tech... or tribal-esque bouncing abstraction... the guitar suddenly no longer sounding like a guitar.
