Heading South through the ranges I turn my wheels for home
With the road stretching before me its 2000 miles to go
Its such a big country with miles and miles of sky
Its 4 days of driving and I cant wait to arrive

It's been 2 years of waiting and the clouds unfurl in my mind
There's a haze of the humdrum in the desert it passes you by
I walk 2 miles and I’m nowhere disappear into stone And I listen to those whispers their finally calling me home
I’m heading home I’m heading home back to the mountains and a golden sandstone my spirits in these mountains and I’ve finally made it home it calls me back
From Alice Springs to Katoomba I’m remembering the times
With the snow fallen on those sisters and a solstice moon behind
The olive green ranges rolling and a blue haze in my mind
In the caves we camped as children I’ve come home to unwind Blue
I’m heading home I’m heading home back to the mountains and the golden sandstone
My spirits in these mountains and I’ve finally made it home I’m heading home
