Rattlesnakes and air-breaks and backyard county roads
Rev it up and keep it up and drive a another load
Two lanes on the black-top ridge, you always seem to score
She won’t know you’re leavin’ ‘til you’re walkin’ out the door
You might find one more run south to Mexico
I’ll catch you on the long round trip, down highway 94

Heatwaves rise and touch the sky, another day begins
Jammin’ gears and drinkin’ beers and whisky once again
No place on the manifest for low-down contraband
She might want to tag along to lend a helping hand
You might know her sister like you’ve never known before
You might put her off alone down highway 94

Yesterday you saw a buzzard circling in the air
Tomorrow it’s just road-kill scattered everywhere
When the road gets weary and you need your eyes wide shut
Reach into your leather bag and swallow what you got
24 more hours, you can make it to the door
Right behind that Econo-line down highway 94

Some days you find nuggets of gold inside your dreams
Other days you’re in a haze of booze and benzedrine
The road rolls on forever with all the dips and turns
Maybe you’ll get lucky with all the lessons that you learned
You might end up sailing to a sunny distant shore
