don’t know how you did it but you got into my heart
gonna drive me crazy but then you did right from the start

don’t know how you did it but you got into my head
keep thinking I might forget you but I keep thinking ‘bout you instead

& something keeps on telling me you wouldn’t have to try very hard
to have me falling down at your feet but it’s just not in the cards

you’re much too beautiful just to be a friend
but if I give in to this love girl well it would most probably end

& it could only end badly so let’s not even start
why’s it always seem to be so goddamned hard

I can only think sadly that we’re better off apart
but it’s getting kind of tiresome always being so smart

when it comes to the love that might have been
the stain of deceit’s upon me just like original sin

sometimes it seems like you just can’t win
& it’s not for any lack of practising

& other times it’s very clear that it’s sink or swim
once the fire of love love love’s gone touched against your skin

lately when I see your beautiful face
I could trade this living hell for an even hotter place

this broken idea well it’s bleeding all over me
& just like a blind man I can finally see

please tell me what you’ve been thinking & I’ll likely go & break that too
you know how when you’ve been drinking well nothing’s ever really true

I know how to get in trouble but not how to make it end

do you actually believe it’s any easier for me

you’re crying there in the bubble bath trying to wash away the rain
but the clouds just keep on coming well that ain’t about to change
