You were too young to know

Now a grave cold stone
Shows the date you were baptized
In fire and terrified

In a plane over Panama my world went to ashes

I have traveled since then
Niagara Falls to the Grand Canyon
I haven’t found a thing

I stood on that canyon’s edge
And I stared straight ahead
Like I knew it was coming
And I didn’t care when it hit me

You can scream until your last breath
You can run until there is nothing of you left
But you can’t cry tears good enough for death
