"Enfleurage Septet" is the 27th Sleepbuilding broadcast to be published for free online. It was originally streamed live on August 18th, 2023, and it is my very first session with Behringer's remake of ARP's Solina String Ensemble synthesizer. Sequencing was done in the Dorian scale (this changed to the major pentatonic scale for Part 5) with Arturia's Keystep Pro, and additional signal processing was facilitated by the R-EW Audioholistics modular system.
2024, as a year, has felt like yet another ocean of extremes - in everything from weather to politics - and within that kind of an atmosphere, I've needed to run for shelter more often than not. It has become essentially important for me to make the time to step outside when there is a sunny day, to turn off the faucet of constant negative information that the internet provides, in order to remind myself - multiple times a day, on particularly hard days - that I am lucky to be far away from those things. Perhaps not very far away, but far enough away that I have a grassy yard that is warmed by a golden sun in a picturesque blue sky, and I can sit there and marvel at that distance.
Distance that is necessary, for my own mental and physical well-being. "Enfleurage Septet" is this and only this - a form of distance between myself and the so-called real world, something to keep the clouds at arm's length while I focus on my work, my family, my friends. There isn't anything particularly profound or novel about it - it resembles in many ways a number of prior Sleepbuilding recordings - but I've come to appreciate things that are comfortable in their predictability, and I hope that you can appreciate these things in any way at all that is similar to how I see them.
