A chime is rung, the ceremony begins
Into the white temple we're summoned by wordless name
Bones of Winter trees ground into dust and feathered across an oiled membrane
Vibrating the air with a drowsy promise of new life

Outside, as the wind crashes upon the walls
A million unseen particles flung across the land
Pieces of Urth, drops of rain and veins of leaves
All boundless in their pursuit of clamoring purchase
Compelled northwest, over the shoulders of blue ranges

The metals driven into the fortress are rusted
Blooming in their own mundane decline
Mocked by the laughing, rapping breeze
As it flows through the hills and groves
Carrying now the incense of sweet fruits into the dim hall

The pregnant valley begins to stir
A slumbering accumulation of seeds and sprouts
And little flashes of bright petals bursting through the soil
Heralding the arrival of our old Mother
Now remade in her cursed recursion
Clutching the walls of the ravine as she climbs out of the deathbed

Her desire is rewarded by the sun
A fractured globe of liquid time
Pierced by the arrows of errant wind and Winter's skeletons
Dripping out a steadily desaturated stream of gemstones
And water that is neither rain nor sea
But tears of joy, wept by her lonesome companion
Finally reunited with his sleeping queen
