she grew up in a mill town where the rich now live in lofts
two stories or more from the floor where her grandfather died on the job
moved away at 18, came back when she was 23
after her mother's funeral, and the only things that she could see

were the dead mills lit up for new owners
and her mother who couldnt get an organ donor
and the hospital bed where they didnt want to keep her
and the floor where everybody dies

how do all of you not go insane?"
everyone says shes crazy but they swear theyll pray
shes not especially spiritual
but she goes to church anyway

because there's hell to pay
