Japan is part of a suite of 6 multi media works composed by Anita Quayle, and inspired by her travels to distant lands and far off places.
Field recordings of everyday life have been woven and intertwined into a sonically composed and improvised landscape.
Our journey begins in Gion with the sounds of Geisha footsteps over a cobbled laneway, the distant voices of prayer at a traditional Kyoto wedding, then the melodies begin to unfold......
The entire suite of works is due for release in June 2020.
released March 20, 2020
Composed by Anita Quayle.
Performed by MAS_ (Xani Kolac - Violin, Anita Quayle - Cello).
Recorded, mixed and mastered by Nick Delaney.
MAS began in early 2018 by 2 incredibly influential instrumentalists and composers from
Melbourne’s music scene. Xani Kolac - Violin and Anita Quayle - Cello.
Their vision is simple….. to reinvent and reinvigorate the way traditional classical instruments are heard, by blending and utilising effects and live looping into originally composed and improvised musical material.
