LIGHTCUBE by LIGHTCUBE
LIGHTCUBE the eponymous debut record from Natalie Simon (nee Lowe). We recorded this live with the guide of the old 2" format, if I wanted another take for a section we made one big cut and kept that throughout the recording. As Mark Grimm said after a few takes of The Duke, "if we do it again, we'll just make different mistakes." We had a great time putting these songs together. Rob Ankum came in hot with the solos where I felt we needed someone to really rip. He is a careful player with beautiful tone. Eric Krieger always learns my songs through and through and adds the perfect fills and harmonics. I have had a lot of different players for LIGHTCUBE, this goes out to John Barber and Alex Major, Bryan Murphy, Chris Gaskell, Dillon Treacy, Harry Terrell, Alex Rastopchin and one drummer whose name I cannot track down! All played with me at Ducks Eatery on 12th Street and 1st Ave where I held a residency from 2014 to 2016 when I left NYC.
