XXXTINCTION by Shawné Michaelain Holloway

Shawné Michaelain Holloway is a new media artist and sex educator. She has spoken and exhibited work in spaces like the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago and at New Museum in New York City. She's noted for creating STRAPP, a modern strap-on harness, and teaching classes introducing curious first-time players to BDSM, fisting, and how to cultivate more in-depth conversations around consent.

Composed across a series of live performances, XXXTINCTION is a violent guided tour exploring what it feels like to be on either side of "almost not existing," created exclusively from sounds recorded on open browser tabs. All together they ebb and decay, reflecting the fragility of the networks on which they are hosted and the quality of their ephemerality

The narrative drags us through a range of aggressions; we eavesdrop on a break up, a testimony of what it feels like to kill, adamant instructions on keeping African Violets alive, and more.
