Hunker Down by Nicholas Naioti
The 2023 album Hunker Down is an exercise in reducing the friction between an idea and its release into the world. The songs materialized as a flow of consciousness, were recorded and mixed with the first possible takes, and took on a life of their own as an album. If we can allow the artistic faucet to open up without internal censorship, what comes out is raw and human. This body of work desires to be minimalist and underworked, so that’s what it will be.
